What are the complimentary online resources and how are they accessed?

The hardcopy textbook and workbook come with the following complimentary online resources.

Textbook:

  • Downloadable lesson and vocabulary audio
  • Lesson animations
  • Voice recording tools and writing pad
  • Other supplementary resources

Workbook:

  • Downloadable workbook audio and character writing sheets
  • Voice recording tools and writing pad
  • Other supplementary resources

To access the resources, first set up an account at mc.betterchinese.com and login. Go to Resources on the bottom left hand tab and input the authorisation code found at the inside back cover of your hardcopy book. Please note that only the above resources are included, not access to the e-textbook or full interactive workbook.

Customers who have purchased a subscription to the e-textbook or digital workbook will automatically have access to these resources.

The authorisation code is single use only so if you have purchased a second hand book you will need to purchase a new subscription to the online resources from this page.

The online/digital workbook has all the same content as the hardcopy workbook as well as interactive feedback and auto-grading functions. It is only available to students at universities where Modern Chinese is used as the course book. Accounts are set up in class groups and students need to join the teacher’s digital class in order to access the online workbook. Instructions on how to do this and the codes for each class are shared with teachers who share the information on the university website course pages.

One year subscriptions to the online workbook can be purchased at this page

Better Chinese is currently also giving access to the online workbook to students at Australian universities who have purchased new copies of the hardcopy workbook. To access, students need to first redeem the authorisation code for the online resources (as outlined in the FAQ above) and then join the teacher’s digital class.

Workbook Answer Keys are available to teachers at universities using Modern Chinese as the course book.

Students at Adelaide and Griffith Universities can access the Workbook Answer Keys at the university website course pages.
